My path to learning methods life extension and gaining psychological balance.
I dedicated my life to the studies of Eastern philosophy, history, medicine, as well as practices of Tai Chi and Chi Gong (Qi–Gong).
Starting from about the age of five, my grandfather started to practice gymnastics daily with me. This helped me develop the habit of constant training early on in life and got me interested in athletics. In elementary school, I attended wrestling sports sections, in high school I wanted to study karate when it was first permitted in USSR in the 60s. It so happened that while serving in the army, I was able to continue my journey studying Karate. At that time it became prohibited for the general public and I considered myself lucky to continue to practice as government permission was needed at that time. After the service, my practice continued in a group of officers of the USSR special services. There I came to a deeper understanding of Indian Yoga, as well as the ancient Chinese gymnastics Tai Chi and Qigong.
I found all of the teachings fascinating and absorbed everything I could get my hands on as part of my service training and outside it. At first I got carried away with the theoretical part, and then I began to look for professionals who had the necessary skill in oriental gymnastics, from whom I could learn the physical forms. Although studying martial arts was not permitted at the time, I was in a circle of people who were also fascinated with martial arts, who quietly introduced me their favorite contacts. It was then that I met specialists from Vietnam, China and India who were in my country. One of them names Xi, was the first master to help me understand Easter Medicine and Qi-Gong.
In the mid 1980s Gorbachev removed the prohibitions around studying martial arts and opened the doors for the general public to learn and practice again. The Ukrainian Wushu Federation was formed, I took lessons there and I began teaching in various sports clubs around Kyiv, Ukraine.
These events took place more than thirty years ago, but to this day I am very grateful to my coaches Nikolai Matulevsky and Solodilena Mila, I accepted their teachings and professionalism with pleasure. In the early nineties, a Master from China invited me to become his student in order to teach me the important, less known and difficult to find aspects of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. This was truly an exemplar moment of "when the student is ready, the teacher appears."
Dr. Mu-Wan-Chen taught me the basics of Eastern medicine and the technique of cultivating vital energy, as well as the methods of managing Qi-Gong. I am in awe of my teacher and have great respect for my friends who taught me to communicate with my heart more than through words and taught me to pass on this gift to my friends and students.
To all who are on the path of improving the mind, body and will, regardless of the direction you have chosen, I wish you success and prosperity, may your path be bright and successful!
